Winter can leave your hair dry & prone to damage, between turning up your heating & spending more time inside, you hair feels dehydrated more than usual. your hair is striped from moisture leaving it limp, brittle & prone to breakage, so how can we stop the damage during the winter months.

Here are our top tips.

1. Hair Oil
Massaging your hair and scalp once or twice a week, with a hair oils can nourish your hair roots and strengthen your hair follicles by moisturising the scalp and promoting blood supply in the hair roots. One of our favourite oils we love to use and comes highly praised from our clients is Kerastase nutritive 8hr magic night serum. This overnight serum nourishes your hair while you sleep. The non-greasy serum leaves your hair feeling lightweight and luxuriously nourished in the morning with no need to rise out.

2. Don’t forget to condition

After shampooing your hair Don’t miss the very important step of applying a conditioner to the lengths and ends of your hair. It only takes 5 minutes to condition your hair, it moisturises and protects the outermost layer of your hair, this makes your hair  smooth, shiny, less frizzy and reduces breakage. Kerastase do amazing conditioners that suits all types of hair. I have highlighted blonde hair so I love to use Kerastase Blonde Absolu CicaFlash Conditionor. This conditioner is a weightless and luxurious formula that delivers the deep nourishment of hair mask with the lightweight finish of a conditioner. The shimmery gel has a soft lavender hue and is infused with hyaluronic Acid and edelweiss flower to replenish intense hydration to every strand, rebuilding and strengthening the fibre to minimise breakage.

3. Limit the styling

Applying heat to your hair can cause damage, split-ends, and breakage. This damage is increase greatly when your hair is already at its weakest in the chilly weather. So, try to limit the usage of iron rods and hair straighteners as much as possible and don’t forget to use a heat-protection serum before doing it. Heat-Protection can come in many different forms from leave in spray & creams. I Love to use a leave oil  as I’m getting the protection as well as the nourishment of the oil.

4. Brush carefully

Hair can tangle like crazy in the harsh winter wind, so brushing your hair using a detangle brush from the middle of your hair and gently work it down towards the ends. This reduces the strain on your scalp and the lengths of hair and minimise breakage. Even using a comb in the shower to apply your conditioner, this makes sure your conditioner is applied evenly and  leaves your hair  dangle free for styling.

5. Drink plenty of Water

We all  love our spiced lattes and hot chocolate to warm us up on the cold days of winter. So the lack of water intake can lead to dehydration, which affects your hair and make it even drier. So, make sure you top up your reusable water bottles to stay well hydrated with natures best H2O.

6. Hair Supplements.

Hair can become weak, damaged & resistant to normal hair growth during the cold, harsh winter months. So you can Support your Hair Growth Cycle by taking  a supplement to help with normal hair growth & health.  Here  in the salon we recommend Grow It. Our clients and staff  have noticed significant hair growth after two months on the Grow It supplement. Many are also noticing other health benefits including healthier skin and nails.
